Introducing Talk Python Membership
, 4 min readFor years, I’ve wanted to offer something premium for podcast listeners. The obvious option was an ad-free feed. That never sat right with me. No ads is not much of a bonus. So over the last few months, I’ve been building something that goes beyond the podcast and beyond the courses. Today I’m thrilled to announce Talk Python Membership.
In short, membership gets you community, live tech meetups, episode previews, and yes an ad-free feed.
A real community
Membership starts with a private Discord server. You’ll hang out with me (Michael), fellow members, and well over 100 Talk Python guests. Many of the people who helped build Python itself are there, core developers included.
There are rooms to share tools you’ve found, post job openings or say you’re looking for work, and just hang out. I built it to capture the hallway track at PyCon. We can keep talking between episodes: me, the guests, and you.
Monthly live tech meetups
Many of you have told me Talk Python brings the Python community to wherever you are. Maybe you work at a company with just a few fellow developers or data scientists. Maybe you live in a town where meetups and conferences just don’t exist.
Each month, members get a live tech meetup. Someone well known in the Python world gives a focused 30 to 45 minute talk. Ask your questions live. Often, meetups are followed by a hangout in a voice and video channel.
I’ve been inviting the people behind tools you use every day. Many have already said yes. I’ll announce them as their dates lock in. Here’s what’s on the schedule so far:
- Talk Python in Production: Building Your Own Infrastructure with me, October 28 at 10:00 AM Pacific. Our inaugural meetup asks whether cloud computing has gotten too complex. I’ll walk through the infrastructure behind Talk Python, with real numbers.
- Faster FastAPI: Running on FastAPI Cloud with Sebastián RamÃrez, date coming soon. The creator of FastAPI on going from code on your machine to a live app.
- Succeeding with Agentic Coding with me, date coming soon. How I use Claude Code to ship real software, with plenty of real-world examples.
Every talk is recorded, so members can watch any time. The Q&A and hangout are live only. Find the times and details at talkpython.fm/meetups.
Episode previews
I’m sure most of you listen to every episode. Still, some topics are hard to judge from the title alone. You’d listen if you knew it covered what you care about. You’d skip it if it didn’t.
That’s why members get a private sidecar feed of episode summaries. Each full episode comes with a short summary episode. It covers what we discussed, plus the interesting angles and surprises along the way. Give it a quick listen, then decide which episodes to dive into.
I’m dialing in the format now. The summaries feed opens to members soon.
Oh, and an ad-free feed
Members also get their own private feed of the show: the intro, announcements, the interview, and the outro, with no ads in between. It works in nearly any podcast app that can follow a show by URL.
Tiers and pricing
There are three tiers. Every tier includes the Discord, the monthly meetups and their recordings, and the ad-free feed.

Your membership also supports Talk Python directly. It helps keep the show going. I think I’ve got a great blueprint here. But a community depends on the people in it. I hope you’ll help me build it. Whether or not you can become a member, thank you for listening and supporting the show.
